Position Summary
Finance managers work as part of a team of Finance and Accounting professionals in the Central region. This team of professionals supports the Finance functions on a regional basis and in Grant Thornton’s local offices. The Regional Finance team is accountable for the financial reporting and analysis, long-term financial planning, strategic finance initiatives, cost constraints, and contributing to the profitability of the office/service lines in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities
Monthly WIP and AR reserves and reforecasting of revenue/expenses – The manager works closely with the local office partners and practice leaders to determine necessary reserves for the month. He/she will also analyze projected revenue (with the resource management group) and direct operating expenses to determine any changes in the rolling forecast. AR Walkforward – The manager works closely with the Centralized Billing Group on WIP and AR management. Weekly WIP and AR Aging, weekly AR Walkforward, and monthly Billing Adjustment Detail reporting will be part of the responsibilities of this position as is a thorough understanding of the analytics on new client assignments set up. Annual Budgets – Under the supervision of the Regional Controller, assist in the development of the annual budgets for the local offices. Work closely with the partners, resource management, and expense managers on business planning, effectiveness of cost controls, and profitability of the office and service lines. Ability to execute at a high level. Help Build the Regional Finance Team’s Culture – Actively participate in regular team meetings and build a culture of collaboration, innovation and creativity. Consistently look for process improvements. Communication – Participate and play an active role in regular meetings to share best practices, information, problem solving, etc., with other team members. Collaboration – Work with numerous team members across the region to support Finance processes. Actively learn and adopt best practices from across the team. Maximize collaboration with other Finance groups in the Firm. Special Projects – Work with the Regional Controller and others to provide specialized analysis and research for individual offices/service lines. Understand fixed asset/lease accounting regulations. Work with Regional Controller and the Centralized Billing Group on any acquisitions affecting the region.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. Proficiant skills with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Must have Advanced Excel skill set.
