Grant Thornton International Director of Technology: Projects & Information Security
The role of the director of technology: projects & information security exists to further project management delivery of technical initiatives in GTI L (Grant Thornton International Ltd.), inclusive of a global information security initiative. The director of technology projects and information security will work to promote the establishment of standards, solutions, and best practices set by GTI L for the sake of member firms.
The role will be responsible for providing technical project management leadership and change management, principally focused on delivering the global IT security programme defined in 2011 for the sake of all member firms. In support of this initiative, the role will be work in conjunction with member firm IT leaders and designees to understand, work to align, and report on progress towards compliance with the set IT security programme. The effort will be 3+ years in duration, and require steady change management and collaboration with firms in adoption of the security standards across all regions of the world. The position will require executive communications, knowledge of technical components and industry trends aligned with the programme, and clarity on the state of member firm changes which work through barriers or challenges to adoption.
The role will work in the GTI technology team as the project management office leader, providing insight and record of projects schedules for the team, as well as acting as mentor and coordinator on project / resource schedules. This will include development and tracking year long on a project portfolio, resource map and tracking on availability of IT resources to perform work, planning of new year budget cost estimates, and supervision of IT project managers work product and deliverables.
This position will report to the global head of technology, and participate in GTI committees and other task forces and work teams as assigned.
Duties and responsibilities: • Initiative leadership of the IT security programme, working amongst member firms to understand and take on the security programme during a 3 year schedule; • IT project management leadership, acting as the IT PMO director and coordinator of resources, initiatives, and schedules amongst the IT team; • Vendor relationship duties including relationship management for the sake of IT security efforts; • Presentations at regional events and knowledge sharing activities as opportunities present; • Executive reporting and insights which help guide IT and business delivery of technical projects; • other duties and responsibilities as defined by the global head of technology
Expertise required for the role: • demonstrated IT leadership characteristics with 15+ years experience in leading technical initiatives and projects efforts in the professional services industry; • current knowledge of Grant Thornton’s business model and client services provided in the region; • Working knowledge of information security principles and best practices for the sake of the IT security initiative; • excellent communications and collaborative skills; • technical experience with the predominant technologies and standards found in the member network; • ability to work with a variety of cultures and technical experience levels in the adoption of technical solutions;
Performance metrics: • Demonstrable progress year over year towards achievement of the IT security programme; • Improved effectiveness of GTI technology projects planning, tracking, and delivery; • Delivery of project assignments and reporting • feedback from member firm business and IT leadership on this role’s interactions and performance.
Other related points: • accessibility: Should be accessible during normal regional business hours to IT contacts via mobile phone, available to consult with the GTIL global head of technology and team during reasonable times each week. GTIL to recompense for nominal mobile communications charges in support of duties or provide a device alternatively; • travel: Some travel in support of GTIL efforts may be required. Travel plans should be in accordance with GTIL travel policies.. • Use of GTIL technology resources: As appropriate, the Director of Technology will utilize GTIL provided technologies and services in delivery of duties and for collaboration with GTIL team members.
Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in sciences, computer sciences or information systems. • 15+ years IT Security management experience. • Customer service orientation. • Proven experience in IT project management. • Ability to facilitate a meeting with business stakeholders. • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. • Excellent presentation skills and experience in a strategic technical role. • Flexible, ability to multi-task and earn the trust and confidence of clients and co-workers. • Ability to effectively interact with business stakeholders, PMO and technical decision makers as well as senior management. • Ability to work additional hours as needed.
