POSITON SUMMARY
The Application Solution Architect within the Grant Thornton International (GTI) Information Technology (IT) team is responsible for designing and delivery of all GTI global applications. This role will be part of the Enterprise Architecture team in defining technical strategy for application development and procurement.
This position requires a highly motivated self-starter with strong communication skills with the ability to provide sound architecture design for a diverse set of global systems. This role will also have to demonstrate the ability to successfully work with off-shore and on-shore teams to ensure successful execution of proposed solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design/build an SOA environment
Build underling foundation for an enterprise service library
Provide communication/documentation for both a technical and executive audience.
Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis.
Adhere to highest degree of professional standards and strict confidentiality in matters that require discretion.
Complete project life-cycle development and documentation for all projects.
Design new web-based applications as identified by firm and IT management.
Design packaged web applications to meet business needs
Document all new/existing solution architecture models
Ensure all applications follow the SA (Solution Architecture) guidelines set forward by GTI.
Work with development teams (on/off shore) to ensure successful delivery of solutions.
Document standard SA (Solution Architecture) models that can be adapted by other member firms within GTI’s network in their own solution delivery.
Provide programming team technical and functional team leadership and technical direction.
Perform project oversight / communications as needed for any application delivery project.
Perform any additional duties as assigned by the manager
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field
6 to10 years of experience in a medium- to large-sized corporate environment with increasing levels of responsibility and complexity of projects and applications.
Experience with WCF (Windows Communication Foundation)
Past experience implementing SOA (Service Oriented Architecture)
Understanding of systems development methodology best practices.
Proven understanding of design patterns
Previous experience in the professional services / accounting industry a plus.
Excellent written and oral communications skills.
Experience with SharePoint 2010 / 2007
Strong database design and understanding of SQL Server 2008+.
Experience is defining Solution Architecture for web based applications that utilizing Web 2.0 technologies.
Experience in Visual Studio 2008/2010
Training and presentation skills in individual and group settings.
Strong attention to detail.
Familiarity with Test Driven Development.
Project management skills including planning, WBS, requirements gathering, and project team coordination.
Team-oriented, flexible, and able to work in an ambiguous and / or changing work environment.
Previous customer service experiences in the software industry a plus.
Previous experience with international issues as related to soft skills a plus.
