The Resource Management Associate works closely with the Audit Resource Management Manager, Managers, Senior Managers, Partners and Practice Leaders to schedule work assignments utilizing engagement budgets. This position requires strong analytical skills and the ability to successfully manage the firm’s resources while considering capabilities, career objectives, engagement risk, leveraging, profitability, strength of client teams, and other project specific requirements. The individual demonstrates excellent administrative skills, is deadline-oriented and flexible to meet changing needs of the role. Strong leadership skills along with strong communication and technology skills are necessary. The individual must be able to build rapport and gain the trust with all levels of personnel at Grant Thornton in order to deal with conflict resolution. Individual is professional, organized, thorough and detail oriented.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Assigns senior associates, associates and interns to engagements utilizing engagement budgets; makes assignments based on individual capabilities, career objectives and project/engagement requirements. Considers the complexity of the engagement and the types of skills necessary for the individual and the client. Aligns skills to the work required and ensures the opportunity for career growth. * Negotiates successful resolution of scheduling conflicts while considering travel, workload, and opportunity across the practice * Monitors resource utilization and time reporting while continually identifying staffing opportunities. * Responsible for preparing weekly reports including availability reports, chargeability reports, and other ad-hoc reports as requested by Practice and Service Line Leaders * Works with Practice Leaders to develop and implement local office resource management policies * Participates in the engagement and performance review process, including roundtable discussions * Interacts regularly with HR as well as other internal groups. Must demonstrate and maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
Qualifications
* A Bachelor’s degree; CPA or PHR is a plus, but not required. * One to three years of relevant experience; experience in professional services industry, specifically public accounting, is preferred.
