POSITION SUMMARY

The Healthcare Senior Internal Auditor is responsible for planning, directing, and completing internal audits and business process reviews for our hospital clients. The key role of the Senior Internal Auditor is evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of controls for ensuring the safeguarding of assets, compliance with internal policies and external/regulatory compliance requirements, reliability of financial and operational reports, economic and efficient use of resources, and the deterrence/detection of fraud. The Senior Internal Auditor works closely with Partners and Staff on client management and business development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality. Manage, direct, and monitor client service teams on multiple engagements; plan, execute, direct, and complete internal audits in the healthcare industry; and manage to budget. Understand and manage firm risk on internal audits and proposals. Develop a project vision and set challenging personal and client service team goals. Manage, develop, train, and mentor staff on projects, and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews. Maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, make sure deadlines are met, and lead change efforts effectively. Consult, work with, and service client base to make recommendations on business and process improvement, serving as a business advisor to client. Work closely with partners, managers, and staff to integrate practice development skills into a team approach to client service and new business development. Team with partners and senior managers on proposals and business development calls. Maintain strong client relations and cross-sell services within the assigned group of clients. Recruit and retain senior associates and associates. Coach senior associates and associates in developing and achieving goals and objectives for performance and professional development. Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis. Perform other job-related duties as necessary.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree. An MBA, CIA, or CPA is a plus. Five to seven years of progressive professional and functionally relevant work experience, delivering and managing internal audit services in a hospital setting (either as a hospital employee or as a professional services provider). Comprehensive knowledge of one or more of the following: -- the health care provider’s revenue cycle (revenue/receivables/collection/reserves- third party reimbursement, self-pay, co-pays, cash) -- patient service delivery and administration processes -- malpractice and other insurance -- compliance with applicable rules and regulations -- supply chain (e.g., procure to pay, buying groups, inventory management and sourcing) -- payroll and human resources, benefits, union contracts -- general ledger and financial reporting (internal, governmental, other regulatory) -- charges and coding -- IT (applications and general controls) and data privacy -- pharmacy and surgery departments -- medical grants and research, whether govt, pharma or other funding sources -- investments and cash management/treasury -- capital projects and expenditures Knowledge of relevant federal and state health care regulation, as well as Joint Commission standards. Excellent analytical, technical, and auditing skills. Professional skepticism. Strong experience in staff and audit management in an integrated client service team. Ability to manage and develop staff in a highly interactive team environment. Practice development experience is preferred. Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships. Advanced presentation and interviewing skills and experience facilitating meetings and leading group discussions. Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment. Strong leadership, business development, recruiting, training, coaching, and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent written, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.. Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel to various client sites.
