Grant Thornton’s tax specialists complement our clients’ accounting teams while maintaining their auditors’ independence with our compliance services and customized tax planning advice. We have capabilities to advise our clients on various tax strategies including federal tax services, state and local tax services, international tax services, industry tax services, family wealth planning, and compensation and benefit plan design as well as consulting on other complex tax matters.
Tax Manager – Compensation & Benefits Consulting
POSITION SUMMARY
Grant Thornton LLP is seeking a Compensation and Benefits Consulting Manager for our CBC practice in Charlotte, North Carolina. This Manager will focus on assisting our tax and audit professionals and clients with a variety of employee benefits related and general human resources related issues, including those arising from recent legislation and regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality.
-Address, research, and consult on complex technical issues specific to employee benefits and other human resources related topics and prepare related written communications.
-Provide timely and creative responses to technical inquiries from operating offices.
-Serve as a business advisor to client.
-Facilitate and participate in firm-wide training and communications relating to compensation and benefits consulting matters.
-Monitor technical developments and write articles for publication in the firm's "Hot Topics" newsletter.
-Provide thought leadership in the business and tax community.
-Work closely with partners, managers, and staff in an integrated approach to client service and new business development.
-Coach and motivate others to achieve goals for performance and professional development.
-Attend professional development and training seminars on a regular basis.
-Perform other job-related duties as necessary.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
-Bachelor's degree in a related subject area. Advanced degree or professional certification preferred.
-Minimum of four years of comprehensive/broad based human resources experience (consulting experience and corporate experience preferable.)
-Proven experience managing and implementing human resource policies in a variety of sectors (i.e. healthcare experience a plus)
-Proven experience in benefits administration
-Strong business acumen and ability to demonstrate cost containment strategies
-Demonstrate technical qualified retirement plan knowledge and experience
-Experience managing and training staff
-Experience with various regulatory bodies governing human resource policies
-Superior analytical and technical skills.
-Ability to manage competing priorities in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment.
-Computer expertisea must including knowledge of tax software and technology.
-Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel upon occasion
