Grant Thornton’s tax specialists complement our clients’ accounting teams while maintaining their auditors’ independence with our compliance services and customized tax planning advice. We have capabilities to advise our clients on various tax strategies including federal tax services, state and local tax services, international tax services, industry tax services, family wealth planning, and compensation and benefit plan design as well as consulting on other complex tax matters.
Tax Senior Manager – Compensation & Benefits Consulting
Position Summary:
This full-time exempt position works closely with partners, managing directors, practice leaders and staff on many phases of project and engagement management for multiple clients in the designated clusters/offices/groups. The Compensation and Benefits Consulting Services Senior Manager responsibilities include the following:
· Ability to interact with the highest levels of client organization leadership including but not limited to the CEO, CFO, General Counsel, CAO, Chair of the Board, Chairs of Board Committees, etc…
· Provide consulting, compliance and audit related expertise to clients in a variety of industries (see below) in relation to qualified and non-qualified benefits plans
· Provide benefits administration guidance and consulting advice for a wide variety of benefit programs and offerings and across a broad spectrum of industries including but not limited to Consumer and Industrial Products, Financial Services, Not-for-Profit, Technology, Health Care and more
· Proactively interact with staff to facilitate the integration of practice development skills and a team approach to client service and business development
· Develop proposals and work with proposal teams to pursue opportunities with prospects and existing clients on a wide array of compensation and benefits consulting opportunities
· Identify and develop opportunities independently but within the context of the CBC Consulting practice team environment to market compensation and benefits consulting services to potential clients
· Maintain strong client relations and cross-sell services
· Develop internal education programs along with the Managing Director and Practice Leader for employees across the firm in relation to the unique aspects of qualified benefits plan consulting and how best to identify new opportunities and how we can provide assistance to our clients & prospects
· Coach staff in developing and achieving performance goals and objectives
· Attend professional development and training seminars on a regular basis
· Provide thought leadership including speaking engagements on compensation and benefits matters
· Participate in recruiting efforts as needed
· Perform other compensation and benefits consulting, accounting, and strategic business consulting services related projects as assigned
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· 10+ years of experience in compensation and benefits consulting, with particular emphasis on benefits consulting for qualified and non-qualified benefits programs
· Experience in the design and administration of qualified and non-qualified benefit programs and offerings across a variety of industries
· Masters Degree in Actuarial Science or Masters of Business Administration; ; alternatively, Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), or Enrolled Actuary
· Extensive knowledge of the employee benefits arena and with evaluating various elements of employee benefits programs
· Experience and proven record of new business development
· Superior analytical, writing, organizational, and project management skills
· Demonstrated experience in managing, mentoring, coaching, and training staff
· Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
· Ability to adhere to strict client confidentiality
· Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
· Strong leadership skills with a positive team player attitude
· Flexibility to travel as needed
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
* An advanced degree and / or professional certifications preferred.
