Grant Thornton’s tax specialists complement our clients’ accounting teams while maintaining their auditors’ independence with our compliance services and customized tax planning advice. We have capabilities to advise our clients on various tax strategies including federal income tax services, state and local tax services, international tax services, family wealth planning, and compensation and benefit plan design as well as consulting on other complex tax matters.

Position Summary:

The Corporate Tax Senior Associate is going to be a part of Japan Business Group, and is responsible for the delivery of a full range of tax services for Japanese companies in the US.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

- Work closely with Grant Thornton’s clients to provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise.

- Review complex tax returns including C-Corp and individuals.
- Supervise Tax Associates on engagements and working closely with Managers to manage clients.
- Plan, execute, direct, and complete tax projects in a wide variety of industries.
- Maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, make sure deadlines are met, and lead change efforts effectively.
- Consult, work with, and service client to make recommendations on business and process improvement and serve as a business advisor to client


- Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA and/or Masters in Taxation highly preferred.

- Must be fluent in Japanese, both verbal and written

- Three to five years of progressive federal tax consulting and/or compliance experience in public accounting or a combination of corporate and public accounting experience.

- A minimum of two years of experience preparing and reviewing Corporate and/or individual tax returns.

- Excellent analytical, technical, and tax accounting/technology skills with proficiency in US GAAP, tax compliance, corporate consolidated returns, and combined state tax returns.

- Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships.

- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

- Computer expertise including knowledge of tax software and technology
