At Grant Thornton, our professional staff applies traditional, cutting-edge approaches and methods to a variety of analyses. As part of our team, the Senior Associate will utilize various methodologies and models to execute client projects.

Develop operational knowledge and a functional understanding of the HSI operations and their distinctive interaction with other components, State and Local partners in order to understand and communicate HSI requirements.
Develop operational knowledge and a functional understanding of Quadrennial Homeland Security Review (QHSR), yearly Resource Planning Guidance (RPG), Presidential Executive Orders, Strategic Plan, HSI Strategic Plan, HSI yearly goals and priorities and the impact to HSI operations and budget planning.
Perform as a strategic integrator aligning HSI’s mission requirements to all acquisition management actions across the Planning, Programing, Budget and Execution (PPBE) process; as well as, current year operational and financial execution.
Ensure task staff participation in the seven (7) Portfolio Teams (PTs) which hold HSI equity:
Research and analyze other component acquisition documentation (MNS, CONOPs, ORDs, etc.) to identify and protect HSI’s equities.
Propose recommendations to leadership on how/when to best engage components regarding HSI’s equities embedded in their respective acquisitions.
Participate in the yearly Level Capability Gap Assessment (CGA) process.
Research and analyze the client EA documentation to ensure HSI’s mission areas as properly represented and aligned/mapped to the proper PT.
Propose recommendations in the form of white papers, executive summaries and/or briefings to leadership to resolve errors or missing information.
Participate in the development and validation of the client EA strategic level Operational Views (OVs) which will document the “future-state” of client’s mission areas within the respective PT.
Perform research and analysis of HSI’s mission areas, developing white papers and briefings to consistently communicate the status of HSI equities during the PT OV “future-state” development to leadership.
Perform a Capability Gap Assessment (CGA) of HSI’s mission areas
Have expert knowledge/experience with Microsoft Project, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Performs special projects as assigned.
Meet or exceed targeted billing hours (utilization).
Assist with business development activities, such as proposals, capture, account teams, whitepapers, conferences, and/or other thought leadership materials.


Requirements and Capability Assessment skills.
Bachelor’s Degree required from an accredited college or university in a related field.
Ability to obtain and maintain certain job-related certifications if no job-related advanced degrees.
U.S. citizenship may be required. Ability to work in the United States indefinitely required.
Travel may be required.
Ability to work overtime required on occasion.
Ability to sit in an office environment for long periods of time.
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
Ability to obtain and maintain firm independence and abide by firm ethics requirements.
Meet or exceed continuing professional education (CPE) requirements.
