The Associate Director of theStudio is a critical part of Grant Thornton’s marketing team and is responsible for leading a national center of excellence responsible for the development and delivery of proposals and orals presentations across the United States, with particular focus on those companies in Grant Thornton’s primary target market. These pursuit assets support the firm’s positioning and must be differentiated both in content and delivery. theStudio produces over 2,000 proposals, RFP responses and orals presentations annually in support of business pursuits, and the team has helped contribute to hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue over the last several years.

We are seeking an individual experienced in leading large, centralized functions with an eye for innovation, someone who delivers continuous process improvement and enhances operational efficiency. The successful candidate is skilled in both proposal development and operations, as he/she will need to be able to help continuously enhance theStudio’s ability to deliver compelling messages and value propositions while delivering seamlessly at scale.

Core Responsibilities:
Provide leadership of a team of approximately 30 professionals, some of whom are based offshore – helping coach, mentor, and develop this talent
Oversee day-to-day operations of theStudio to ensure proposal and orals requests are met, that the deliverables are of the highest quality, and that internal stakeholders are satisfied (includes monitoring satisfaction through surveys)
Compile and review data to determine trends and take action based upon insights generated to enhance proposal win rate, team functioning, and beyond; generate reports with insights and countermeasures for leadership
Continuously innovate and improve tools, content, and operations to deliver compelling and differentiated proposals (assessing, enhancing, optimizing digital tools for self-service delivery and efficiency is critical)
Manage and/or oversee proposal requests and allocate resources (in house, offshore, contractors) to ensure support
Maintain and manage theStudio’s budget
Coach theStudio team around pursuit strategies and best practices; actively consult on win themes and messaging for theStudio’s largest pursuits to positively influence strategy and win rates
While not a primary focus of the role, this individual may be called upon to develop proposals of their own in circumstances where needed because of size, complexity, or resourcing

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:
Bachelor’s degree in related field; Masters, MBA, or other advanced degrees / certificates preferred
Technical skills and/or technical familiarity with CRM systems, intranets, content management systems, and technologies that help deliver service at scale (experience with technologies or tools that help deliver proposal / sales support materials at scale is highly preferred)
Has vast experience working on proposals and other sales materials, having personally led multiple large value proposals through to win; someone who understands what it takes to win work and articulate a value proposition; a true proposal expert
Demonstrated experience in developing, managing and implementing operational strategies and budgets
Demonstrated track record in project management, creating and implementing innovative approaches and “next” practices
Ability to read aggregate and point solution data to tell a compelling story in a variety of different ways (oral, written, visual presentation, 1-1 conversation, experiential)
A reputation for discretion, integrity, judgment, responsiveness, strong attention to detail and common sense
