Business Risk Services - Strategic Risk and Operations Senior Manager

Position Summary:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

As a Senior Manager, you will develop a broad base of industry and functional knowledge while managing significantly larger and more complex aspects of our engagements. You will work closely with clients to dive deep into their strategic risk management issues, create strategic risk recommendations, develop persuasive presentations, and implement risk-based strategies and processes aligned with enterprise risk perspectives and related solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct highly complex enterprise risk management work for clients; involving, the design and implementation of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) programs subject to varying, emerging, or established regulatory frameworks.
Apply a mature risk management perspective to diagnose and describe consistent patterns of organizational behavior and disincentives encountered by clients who are often challenged by risk blind spots.
Educate clients, regulators, and business partners on high performing enterprise risk management concepts, approaches, and processes.
Utilize previous consulting and multi-industry experience to help clients establish, refine, and achieve their growth strategies by becoming more transparent and reliably risk informed.
Facilitate the development of risk appetite statements and enterprise risk tolerance recommendations.
Effectively determine how to best partner with each client to identify, assess, and mitigate enterprise risks within the client’s existing culture.
Lead the design, development, and enhancement of enterprise risk dashboards and risk platforms including, ideation and outputs required from Governance Risk and Technology (GRC) systems that may be in effect.
Develop and monitor enterprise risk management planning initiatives.
Develop and implement roadmaps to align key risk indicators and enterprise risk protocols.
Develop and communicate ERM program descriptions and training.
Apply sound diagnostic judgment to synthesize business and financial information into a risk lifecycle (e.g. risk scoring);
Assist in writing in-flight regulatory reports, peer review of prior reports, or developing any new required regulatory report outline or report.
Work collaboratively with other Grant Thornton practice groups on potential opportunities and engagements to deliver a holistic client service delivery model.
Maintain a good working relationship with clients and work effectively with client management and staff at all levels to gather information and perform services.
Perform engagement management responsibilities, including day-to-day oversight, performance reviews, task delegation, project scheduling, project financials, quality review and client management.
Lead business development activities throughout the entire sales cycle: client relationship building, opportunity creation/identification, opportunity qualification, proposals, statements of work, oral presentations, developing project approaches, resource models, and pricing estimates
Meet or exceed sales targets for primary sales and sales support
Meet or exceed managed revenue goal

Additional responsibilities may include:

Perform accurate analysis and design effective solutions to a variety of client issues.

Communicate (verbally and in writing) externally with clients and internally with all levels of the organization to successfully accomplish objectives portraying knowledge and confidence.
Manage, develop, train, coach and mentor staff on projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews.
Motivate others to perform at maximum efficiency without sacrificing quality of the services delivered.
Interview campus and/or experienced candidates.
Previous experience developing and delivering training content.
Strong executive presence and comfort presenting information to large groups across multiple levels
Action-oriented and able to operate in ambiguous environments with minimal direction around new areas of work (e.g. interdependencies);
Highly organized, ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Risk Management, or closely related field; or Bachelor’s degree and 15 years’ experience in Enterprise Risk Management, Business Continuity, Compliance, Legal, Contracting or closely related field.
Ten (10) years of recent experience in enterprise risk management programs and practices; advanced understanding of enterprise risk, related control frameworks and practices, and existing and pending regulatory requirements.
Ten (10) plus years of related work experience in a similar consulting practice or function servicing cross-industry clients at a national level. Will also consider other consulting experiences (including in-house).
Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Certified Risk Manager (CRM) or related license/certification a plus.
Four (4) years of experience in managing a staff of two or more analysts.
Experience working in corporate risk management, including commercial insurance and alternative risk transfer solutions, is a plus.
Experience working with clients across various and highly regulated industries.
Working knowledge and experience with various established risk management and cybersecurity frameworks.
Must be able to design, manage, and execute an independent work plan with the input of your
Engagement Leader and team members.
Experience using various Project Management technology platforms such as MS Project, SmartSheet, and VersionOne.
Must be able to produce persuasive, simple, and clear story lines, slides, and other output relevant to audiences of all levels.
Must be able to quickly establish credibility and trust with clients and colleagues.
Must be intellectually curious and motivated to develop professionally, including being an active participant in developing firm methodologies and/or professional certifications.
Must demonstrate strength in or a desire to build skills related to Grant Thornton’s core values of: Collaboration, Leadership, Excellence, Agility, Respect and Responsibility.
Ability to travel domestically or internationally
Must be able to perform research and analysis
Ability to work additional hours and travel domestically as needed.
