Grant Thornton is seeking a Senior Associate/Healthcare Internal Controls Lead to join its Healthcare Risk Advisory service line in Alexandria, VA or Baltimore, MD, to take an active role in engagement execution, project management and key business development activities.

At Grant Thornton, our professional staff applies traditional, cutting-edge approaches and methods to a variety of analyses. As part of our team, the Senior Associate will utilize various methodologies and models to execute client projects.

Assist Manager in leading a team of 5-6. Leading the team includes conducting weekly internal status meetings, delegating work assignments, keeping manager appraised of status updates and reviewing the team's work.
Completing internal control testing includes taking sole responsibility for certain programs, working directly with clients to make updates, obtaining documentation and conducting the required testing.
Project administrative duties such as ProStaff forecasting, budgeting, scheduling, etc.
Meet or exceed targeted billing hours (utilization).
Assist with business development activities, such as proposals, capture, account teams, whitepapers, conferences, and/or other thought leadership materials.


Self-starter - ability to proactively identify solutions and opportunities.
Experience leading others or ability to lead - comfortable and capable of reviewing work.
Previous experience/background in Healthcare, experience within the Department of Health & Human Services or the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services strongly preferred. A strong interest in healthcare can be accepted.
Experience with internal controls, audit, internal audit, compliance reviews or program assessmentsor a strong desire to learn.
Strong client communication skills - ability to communicate clearly, professionally and concisely.
Ability to travel 1-2 days per week to Baltimore, MD and Alexandria, VA
Bachelor’s Degree required from an accredited college or university in a related field.
Ability to obtain and maintain certain job-related certifications if no job-related advanced degrees.
U.S. citizenship may be required. Ability to work in the United States indefinitely required.
Travel may be required.
Ability to work overtime required on occasion.
Ability to sit in an office environment for long periods of time.
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
Ability to obtain and maintain firm independence and abide by firm ethics requirements.
Meet or exceed continuing professional education (CPE) requirements.
