Grant Thornton has multiple job openings for a Manager- Model Risk Management. This role is within our Advisory practice- Operations Risk team. The applicant will report to our Chicago, IL office, but may live anywhere in the U.S., as this is a roving position that requires travel 80% - 100% of the time. The role is responsible for fostering internal collaboration, managing client engagements, training junior associates and implementing model risk management leading industry practices. The position will assist Partners and Managing Directors in model risk management engagements including model risk governance, model development and model validation projects across financial services industry, specifically in the areas of CCAR, DFAST (stress testing models), Basel, AML and fraud models, and ALLL. The Manager- Model Risk Management will support MRM activities, design model risk management practices, model development and validation methodologies, training and use cases. Additionally, the position will be responsible for building a network across the industry that enables collaboration and reuse of model risk management practices and expertise. The position will utilize an analytical mind-set and creative problem-solving when applying regulatory requirements in a business environment and model risk management areas.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

The position requires a Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field plus two years of professional experience in the job offered or in a related model risk management, model validation, or model testing position. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field plus five years of progressively-responsible, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a related model risk management, model validation, or model testing position. Additionally, the applicant must have two years of professional experience with each of the following: (1) Designing and developing analytical and quantitative financial models; (2) Using analytical and modeling tools, including SAS, R, and Matlab; (3) Working within the credit risk management, operational risk management or related areas in the risk regulatory framework for the financial services industry; and, (4) Evaluation of model risk management governance, model development, validation and testing for financial services.
