FinTech – Managing Director

Digital democratization, robotics and artificial intelligence have transformed entire industries over the last two decades. Grant Thornton helps its clients demystify fintech and most importantly understand the new set of demands on their organization and operating model.

As a FinTech Managing Director, you will help organizations proactively shape and implement their fintech solution. You will assist in building a sustainable fintech service model by developing strategy, driving innovation ideas from theory to proof of concept, identify key go-to-market opportunities, negotiate and manage key client relationships.

A Managing Director is expected to excel in the management and execution of engagements, maintain strong relationships with clients at the executive level, and ensure distinct client service and overall quality. A Managing Director is a role model to others in the firm and ensures that we are living the firm’s core values and required behaviors at every opportunity. A Managing Director possess strong technical capabilities and a focus on quality. They have the ability to speak to multiple solutions but have specific industry and functional knowledge with a track record of managing significantly larger and more complex engagements over the course of their career. They work closely with clients at the executive suite, to dive deep into their issues, create strategic recommendations, and develop persuasive presentations that will convert to revenue generating opportunities for the firm. They are responsible for driving new business relationships, client service and delivery as well as meeting performance criteria expected of leaders in our firm.

A successful candidate for this role will have a solid track record of leading fintech innovation strategies / alliances / and partnerships with a global business or management consulting firm. Ideal experience includes leading and executing technology and innovation efforts including digital strategies, regtech, data analytics, machine learning, AI, and robotic process automation (RPA).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build a sustainable innovation model and solution offerings to generate new revenue
Develop an innovation strategy and drive solutions from ideation to proof of concept
Lead an innovation team and mobilize efforts to execute offering development
Advise senior leadership team on solution offering progress and key activities
Provide technical expertise in the areas of regulations, market practices, trends, economic factors, risk identification, and process improvement recommendations.
Develop and manage partnerships strategies and agreements
Develop and maintain strong relationships with business owners and CEOs of current and potential clients.
Effectively manage existing client relationships to enhance client satisfaction.
Liaise with business leaders across a matrixed organization to leverage resources and manage implementation plans
Effectively manage the fundamentals (i.e., realization, utilization, leverage, accounts receivable, and expenses).
Manage, develop, train, coach and mentor staff on projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews
Collaborate with sales teams to develop key go-to-market targets and strategies
Meet or exceed sales targets for new and follow-on work
Lead workshops to educate clients about new technology opportunities and services
Identify leading cutting edge technologies and solutions
Lead multidisciplinary teams of designers, technologists, and product leaders
Serve as a thought leader, speak with clients and at industry events
Perform engagement management responsibilities, including performance reviews, task delegation, project scheduling, project financials, quality review and client management
Maintain a good working relationship with clients and work effectively with client management and staff at all levels to gather information and perform services
Work closely with Grant Thornton managers and partners to promptly identify and resolve client problems or issues
Access Grant Thornton’s global network to bring the best experience to bear
Communicate (verbally and in writing) externally with clients and internally with all levels of the organization to successfully accomplish objectives portraying knowledge and confidence
Motivate others to perform at maximum efficiency without sacrificing quality of the services delivered
Interview campus and/or experienced candidates

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, MIS or related field. A Master’s degree is a plus, Master’s degree preferred
10+ years of progressive consulting experience in innovation / partnership management or management consulting
Specific certifications are highly preferred CPA, CAMS, CRCM, ACFCS, CISA, CISSP, CIA, CISM, PMP, Certified Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt, or Prosci

7+ years of experience managing teams

Excellent leadership skills, excellent communication skills
Strong innovation network is preferred

Strong analytical skills and ability to perform quantitative analysis and develop business cases

Excellent written and verbal skills

Excellent interpersonal, facilitation and presentation skills

Must be able to produce persuasive, simple, and clear story lines, slides, and other output relevant to audiences of all levels; must have a point of view and be able to express and defend it; must be able to effectively organize and lead client meetings.
Must have demonstrated new business development experience.
Must have demonstrated ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities.
Must be able to quickly establish credibility and trust with clients and colleagues.
Must be able to design, manage, and execute an independent work plan with the input of your Engagement Manager and team members.
Must be intellectually curious and motivated to develop professionally, including being an active participant in developing firm methodologies and/or professional certifications.
Must demonstrate strength in or a desire to build skills related to Grant Thornton’s core values of: Collaboration, Leadership, Excellence, Agility, Respect and Responsibility.
Must have strong leadership, business development, recruiting, training, coaching, and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Ability to work additional hours and/or travel as needed.
