Transaction Services Valuation Associate – Real estate
Within Transaction Services, Grant Thornton’s valuation services practice provides real estate valuation, consulting and advisory services to privately-held and publicly-traded companies across all industries.
Grant Thornton is seeking an Associate to join its Houston office and take an active role in real estate valuation engagement execution and support key practice efforts. At Grant Thornton, our professional staff applies traditional and cutting edge valuation approaches and solutions to help our clients solve complex business issues. As part of our team, the Associate will perform market research, valuation analyses on all types of real property, and create written reports. Engagements will be performed for a variety of services including: financial reporting, transaction due diligence, insurance, appraisal, tax, audit reviews, and litigation support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct research using both primary and secondary sources.
Perform cash flow modeling using Argus and Excel based models.
Assist the audit team in reviewing externally and management prepared valuation reports.
Organize and conduct projects and services in real estate valuation analysis, industry research and related investigative services.
Collaborate with other advisory service professionals as well as the audit, and tax service lines in a team environment.
Work closely with partners, managing directors, managers and seniors on client service, practice development and new business development activities.
Pursue a professional designation in the real estate valuation field, such as the Appraisal Institute, as well as state licenses.
Play an active role in campus and off-campus recruiting to assist in the growth and development of the real estate valuation practice.
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field. Master’s degree with a real estate focus is a plus.
Real estate experience preferred but not required.
Ability to demonstrate exceptional client service and communication skills.
Ability to work on multiple engagements and competing priorities in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment.
Excellent verbal, written (including technical writing) and presentation skills.
Excellent analytical, research, organizational and project management skills.
Ability to travel to various client sites as needed.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Familiarity with Argus, CoStar, REIS and other real estate subscription tools is a plus.
