Private Wealth Services Tax Managing Director
Grant Thornton’s responsive, partner-led Tax service teams help dynamic companies navigate complexity and grow with insightful, practical tax advice. In addition to tax professionals in more than 50 offices around the United States, our Washington National Tax Office provides deep technical knowledge and responsive support in local, state, federal and international tax. Our tax services include: compliance, compensation and benefits consulting services, federal tax services, international tax services, state and local tax services, private wealth services, tax accounting and risk advisory services and tax compliance services.
The Private Wealth Services (PWS) Practice is responsible for leading the practice and providing tax consulting services to our clients. Professionals in PWS and General Tax work together to build a profitable practice, delivering high value solutions and income, estate, and gift tax planning strategies to the high net worth market. The client base is primarily comprised on owners of closely held businesses and other high net worth individuals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Effectively manage existing client relationships to enhance client satisfaction
Identify and capitalize on opportunities to sell services to existing and potential clients.
Effectively manage the fundamentals (i.e. realization, utilization, leverage, accounts receivable, and expenses)
Successfully integrate industry initiatives with local office strategy
Drive strategy development and implementation, profitability and growth for the Tax Practice.
Promote collaboration between service lines and industries to provide high quality client service.
Ensure the Tax Practice maintains a high level of quality and follows the firm’s quality control policies
Use knowledge of the client, competition, market and product or service to expand services to current clients. Serve as business adviser to client.
Proactively anticipate and stay informed of information related to their specialty, including regulations, market practices, trends, economic factors and risk.

Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a Master’s in Taxation.
CPA, JD or LLM in Taxation.
At least ten years or more of progressive federal tax consulting/compliance experience in public accounting or a combination of corporate and public accounting experience.
Experience in a medium- to large-sized public, regional, or national accounting firm
Demonstrated success in a leadership role.
Experience in Corporate, S-Corp and/or Partnership returns.
Hands-on, advanced experience using tax technology.
Demonstrated new business development experience
Majority of experience should be developing business with domestic corporate clients in the middle market.
Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel to various client sites.
