Global Mobility Tax Manager – Human Capital Services

In addition to tax professionals in our offices across the United States, our, Washington National Tax Office provides deep technical knowledge and responsive support in local, state, federal and international tax. Our tax services include: compliance, human capital services, federal tax services, international tax services, state and local tax services, private wealth services, tax reporting and advisory, partnership taxation, not-for-profit tax, and mergers & acquisition tax services.

Grant Thornton LLP seeks a Global Mobility Tax Manager - Human Capital Services. The Global Mobility Tax Manager will serve as a regional subject matter practice leader and will procure, develop, and complete global mobility consulting engagements, focus on assisting our tax/consulting professionals and clients with a variety of employee payroll, and global mobility tax related issues, including those arising from recent legislation and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Address, research, and consult on complex technical issues specific to employee payroll, compensation/executive compensation, benefits, global mobility taxes, etc. and consult and prepare related written communications.
Provide timely and creative response to complex technical inquiries from operating offices.
Facilitate and conduct firm-wide training and communications relating to global mobility matters.
Provide thought leadership in the business and tax community
Work closely with partners, managers, and staff to integrate practice development and client service.
Manage, coach, and motivate staff to achieve goals for performance and professional development.
Other duties as assigned.


Bachelor’s degree in a related subject area.
Active CPA or JD are preferred or other acceptable credential.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in global mobility tax matters, employee payroll, benefits and/or compensation, preferably with a large accounting firm or major consulting firm.
Ability to manage competing priorities in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment.
Outstanding leadership, business development, recruiting, training, coaching and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Computer expertise including knowledge of applicable tax software and technology.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Advanced degree and/or professional certification preferred.

Additional Information

Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel on a regional basis as needed.
